Software Engineer, UI/UX

Software EngineerLightship's mission to modernize and electrify RVs demands building cutting edge electronics and controls. We are seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Android UI/UX and Systems Interfacing. In this role, you will be the primary architect of the user experience as it relates to vehicle controls and transforming telemetry data from the Lightship RV into an intuitive mobile interface. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of our cloud infrastructure. To succeed, you will develop a strong understanding of how our systems work and how the users interact with them.ResponsibilitiesDesign and build engaging applications for Android and iOS platforms.Work closely with backend developers to integrate APIs, third-party libraries, and cloud services (like Firebase) to ensure seamless data flow and functionality.Collaborate with our third-party development team on new features and releases.Develop, maintain, and extend cloud server applications and infrastructure.Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, and collaborate with designers, product managers, and test engineers.Adhere to best practices and coding standards, conduct code reviews, and maintain clear documentation for future upgrades and utilization.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or 2+ years of relevant experienceProficiency developing with Kotlin for AndroidExperience using Flutter for cross-platform application developmentBasic knowledge of UI design and reactive UI patternsBasic knowledge of ProtoBufs, MQTT, WebSockets, and restricted-bandwidth data protocolsExperience with Embedded Linux and Linux system servicesExperience working with databases such as SQLiteExperience using version control tools like Git and familiarity with CI/CD pipelinesStrong written and verbal technical communication skillsPreferred QualificationsHands-on experience with AWS IoT Core, LambdaProficiency in C#, PythonFamiliarity with Ethernet, WiFi, LTE, and BluetoothFamiliarity with GTest Framework or equivalentExperience with XCode and TestFlightExperience working with cross-functional software, hardware, test, and manufacturing teamsEquity Lightship compensation consists of the yearly salary above plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company. $107,000 - $125,000 a yearEmployee Benefits & Philosophy - Applies to Full Time Employees OnlyHealthcare, Dental, Vision401kFlexible Paid Time Off - that we actually want you to use!13 Company Holidays: 8 throughout the year + the company observes a week of scheduled downtime during the end of the year, allowing all employees to enjoy a break12 weeks paid parental leaveYearly LightTrip stipend for an RV trip &/or professional development opportunitiesLightship offers all of its full time employees and their dependents full benefits including health, dental and vision insurance.
