Employee Benefits Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Employee Benefits Manager based in the United States.

This is a full-time remote opportunity focused on delivering clear, engaging, and valuable benefits experiences for employees.
You'll manage day-to-day administration across health, welfare, retirement, voluntary benefits, and wellness programs.
The role combines benefits expertise with employee communications, technology, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
You'll serve as a key resource for employees navigating benefits questions, life events, eligibility, and coverage decisions.
You'll also play a central role in annual Open Enrollment, from system configuration and testing through communications and employee education.
Working closely with HR, payroll, HRIS, vendors, and benefits partners, you'll help improve accuracy, efficiency, and employee engagement.

Accountabilities

• Manage the day-to-day administration of medical, dental, vision, life, retirement, voluntary, and other employee benefit programs.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefits questions, qualifying life events, and dependent eligibility verification.
• Provide team support and backup for leave administration activities when needed.
• Partner with HRIS and Payroll teams to ensure accurate premium deductions, carrier feeds, employee data, and benefits-related records.
• Identify and implement process improvements that strengthen benefits administration and employee experience.
• Work with benefits leadership to translate complex plan designs, policy updates, and coverage information into clear, engaging employee communications.
• Lead and continuously improve the new-hire benefits onboarding experience and related communication materials.
• Deliver weekly new-hire benefits presentations and monitor employee questions to identify opportunities to improve understanding and engagement.
• Coordinate annual Open Enrollment logistics, including system configuration, testing, vendor coordination, and implementation.
• Develop quick-reference guides, toolkits, informational materials, and employee communications to support Open Enrollment.
• Host benefits information sessions and partner with benefits consultants to support employee education and engagement.
• Use technology and AI-enabled tools to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and scale benefits operations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve issues and ensure smooth benefits administration.
• Take on additional benefits and employee experience projects as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of experience in HR, employee benefits, corporate communications, or a related area, including dedicated experience managing employee benefit programs.
• Strong knowledge of employee health and welfare benefits, including HSAs, FSAs, and High Deductible Health Plans.
• Working knowledge of retirement benefits, including 401(k) plans, as well as COBRA and leave administration.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Workday Benefits Administration is preferred.
• Technical understanding of Workday business processes, Open Enrollment configuration, coverage updates, integration troubleshooting, and custom reporting is highly valuable.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex benefits terminology into clear, accessible, and compelling information.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, particularly when coordinating annual enrollment activities, communications, testing, and vendor deliverables.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with HRIS, Payroll, HR, benefits consultants, vendors, and employees.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset with an interest in using technology and AI to improve processes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of service and employee focus.

• Salary: $73,000-$130,000 USD annually, with actual compensation determined by qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and work location.
