Job Description

• This role operates production machinery and supports outside operations to produce high-quality parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Machine Operator loads parts, performs manual operations such as drilling and deburring, and uses precision measuring tools to ensure products meet strict dimensional and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate production machinery safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
• Load parts into machines and ensure they are properly positioned and secured before operation.
• Perform outside operations such as manual drilling, deburring, and other secondary processes as needed.
• Use electric drills to perform drilling and tapping operations on products according to specifications.
• Use a torque wrench to bolt down fixtures into T-plates and ensure secure setups.
• Operate CNC mills, including HAAS CNC machines, following established procedures and work instructions.
• Perform saw and bandsaw operations to cut materials to required dimensions.
• Utilize calibrated precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and other dimensional inspection tools to verify part quality.
• Conduct dimensional inspections to confirm parts meet engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Follow lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and maintain organized work areas.

Essential Skills

• Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with machine operation.
• One year of experience performing machine operation with a HAAS CNC or relevant equivalent experience.
• Ability to operate CNC mills and production machinery safely and effectively.
• Ability to perform saw and bandsaw operations.
• Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, thread gauges, and pin gauges.
• Capability to perform manual operations such as drilling, deburring, and tapping.
• Ability to use an electric drill for drilling and tapping operations.
• Ability to use a torque wrench to secure fixtures properly.
• Capacity to work in a repetitive production setting while maintaining quality and focus.
• Commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of the job.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent education.
• Experience operating HAAS CNC equipment.
• Hands-on experience with CNC mills, saws, and bandsaws.
• Experience working within a lean manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to lean Six Sigma methodologies and continuous improvement practices.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate dimensional inspections.
• Comfort working with calibrated precision measuring instruments.
• Willingness to learn new processes and handle challenging setups.
• Ability to adapt to a structured production environment rather than a job shop setting.

Work Environment

• This position operates in a production manufacturing environment with a focus on safety, consistency, and quality. The standard schedule is a 1st shift, running from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with regular workweeks approaching 50 hours and optional Saturday shifts available for those who want additional hours. The work involves operating CNC mills, including HAAS machines, as well as saws and bandsaws, and performing manual operations such as drilling and deburring. Employees use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, thread gauges, and pin gauges to perform dimensional inspections. The environment is repetitive and production-focused, distinct from a job shop, and emphasizes learning the process thoroughly. Safety and quality are core priorities, and the role can be challenging in terms of mastering setups and maintaining consistent output, but it offers rewarding experiences for those who enjoy problem-solving and producing high-quality parts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this position is $20.75 - $20.75/hr.
