University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department: Physiology and Biophysics Job Title: Research Services Entry to Senior Professional Position #: 00808488 – Requisition #: 29622 Nature of Work Entry to Senior Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in an experimental lab, wet lab, handling chemicals and potential hazards. Duties include laboratory testing and analysis. Responsibilities Collaborate with Principal Investigators (PI) and stakeholders with laboratory and research functions. Utilize laboratory techniques required for research projects. Perform experiments, tabulate and analyze research. Support analytical testing processes, including sample preservation, preparation, documentation, and communication of results. Perform pre‑analytical, analytical and post‑analytical testing, evaluate results. Prepare lab for daily operations, stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness. Provide animal care as necessary. Transport and maintain samples, documents, materials. Dispose of materials and samples per guidelines. Maintain logs, documents, databases. Support issue research, develop recommendations. Assist review and implementation of lab policies, practices, programs. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations; receive guidance or escalation when required. For intermediate level: independently identify laboratory solutions; develop/implement new or modified techniques; assist team leads; train junior members. For senior level: develop protocol‑specific systems and documents; identify operational efficiency issues; provide expertise in study design, oversight, data management, analysis, manuscript preparation; serve as resource to PIs. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Entry Level: Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field; or combination of education and related paraprofessional experience. Intermediate Level: Bachelor’s degree as above and one year professional level research experience. Senior Level: Bachelor’s degree as above and two years professional level research experience. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field. Entry Level: prior experience in experimental or wet lab. Intermediate Level: two years experience in experimental or wet lab. Senior Level: three years experience in experimental or wet lab. Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and safety procedures. Effective communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels. Outstanding customer service skills. Commitment and leadership in diversity and inclusion. Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology. Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
