Public Health Nutritionist – Temporary (Job Requisition #55081) Overview The Public Health Nutritionist provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and nutrition guidance to individuals and families enrolled in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). This position is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or someone looking to begin a career in public health, nutrition, maternal and child health, or community services. The successful candidate will work with pregnant and postpartum individuals, infants, and children under five to support healthy eating, growth, and feeding practices. We are looking for someone who is compassionate and excited to work directly with families from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. In This Role, You Will Provide nutrition education and breastfeeding support to WIC participants. Help connect families to community resources. Complete nutrition assessments and develop follow-up plans. Participate in community outreach and nutrition education activities. Collaborate with coworkers and community partners to support participant needs. Who May Apply This position, Public Health Nutritionist – Temporary (Job Requisition #55081), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week. Environmental Factors Duties primarily performed in a public health organization setting or in outlying service sites. May require travel to outlying sites, a valid driver's license or private means of transportation. Occasional travel to statewide trainings may be required, with potential travel in difficult weather conditions. The role involves interaction with staff, clients and the general public, including situations during public health emergencies such as floods or infectious disease outbreaks. Physical demands vary, generally limited to carrying equipment needed for clinic and education activities. Certain functions may require duty outside of normal work hours. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's or higher degree in nutrition, nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition. OR applicant in the final semester of a bachelor's or higher degree program in the same fields; graduation from the program must occur prior to the start date. Preferred Qualifications Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (R.D./R.D.N).
