Pulmonology - Critical Care Physician

Start Date:

• January 2027 - ongoing
• New hospital opening and staffing shortage

Schedule:

• Must be available for 7-day consecutive stretches
• 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM: Onsite in an 8-bed ICU in North Georgia
• 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM: Overnight call from home/offsite
• Pulmonary consults during the day shift
• Approximately 30 days of coverage per month

Clinical Volume:

• Approximately 4-5 admissions per day
• Approximately 10 patients per day
• Callback is rare and generally handled by phone
• Estimated 2-5 calls during the 12-hour overnight period
• Critical patients are transferred to a sister site

Patient Population:

• Adult medical/surgical patients
• No OB
• No pediatrics
• No trauma

Practice Setting:

• Hospital
• 8-bed ICU

Duties:

• Admissions
• Cross-coverage
• Pulmonary consultations

Required Procedures:

• Tracheal intubation
• Central lines
• Chest tubes
• Arterial lines
• Dialysis catheter placement
• Thoracentesis
• Lumbar puncture
• Conscious sedation
• Bronchoscopy

Support Staff:

• In-house hospitalists
• ER physicians
• Respiratory therapy
• ICU nursing

EMR:

• Epic

Requirements:

• Class 1 - clean file
• No previous malpractice claims
