Graphics Designer

The Center for Rural Development (The Center), located in Somerset, Kentucky, invites applications for the position of Graphics Designer. The Center is a national model for economic development in rural areas, serving a forty-five county service area of Southern and Eastern Kentucky and beyond, with a wide array of programs.

The Graphics Designer assists the Managing Director of Marketing & Events with the development and distribution of internal and external communications programming to promote and enhance the organization’s brand, images and services. Primary responsibilities include the design of creative marketing collateral for The Center using specific branding guidelines and innovative design and layout; providing guidance for layout, color schemes, and styles of all published marketing material as assigned by the Managing Director of Marketing & Events.

The Graphics Designer will apply art, design, and copy layout skills to create visually engaging concepts such as logos, brochures, signs, books, magazine covers, annual reports, advertisements, other communication materials and ideally web page creation by using technology, including but not limited to, design software programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

College degree with three to five years of related work experience, or a combination of education and work experience.

Specific Skills Required:

General:

• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects efficiently meeting all required deadlines.
• Self-motivation with the ability to work harmoniously with a wide variety of people.
• Must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
• Knowledge of industry standard design software to include, but not limited to Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
• Must be able to function efficiently in a stressful work environment.
