Job DetailsJob Location: Village Bakery - Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 Responsibilities Create and prepare all pastry items as required by the business Prepare, clean, and organize ingredients for use in the kitchen Come up with recipe ideas from scratch Prepare glazes, fillings, toppings, and other products per company standards and recipes given by the Executive Pastry Chef Plan the menu of desserts and pastry to complement savory items Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitized at all times Calculate and scale recipes to determine the quantities of prep items needed on given production totals Oversee a team of junior pastry cooks and other staff members as necessary Maintain up to date knowledge about pastry arts and ingredients Carry out administrative duties to maintain an efficient workspace Handling and reheating food Will be required to work varying schedules that reflect the business needs of the hotel All other duties that are assigned Qualifications At least 2-year experience as a prep cook, pastry cook, or similar role Thorough understanding of basic pastry techniques such as mixing methods, making pastry cream, cooking the curd Ability to communicate with the public, hotel staff, and management in a professional manner Computer and phone literacy required Keep supplies filled and maintained Clean up spills and maintain proper sanitation Must have the ability to bend, squat, and frequently lift 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed A high school diploma is a plus Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays North Beach Village Resorts provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. #J-18808-Ljbffr North Beach Village Resort
