Elementary School S.T.E.M. Teacher Position Type: Elementary School Teaching Date Posted: 3/30/2026 Location: Hoover Elementary School Date Available: 08/17/2026 Closing Date: 07/31/2026 Position Summary The STEM Teacher plans and delivers engaging, standards-based instruction in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in a middle school environment. Through project-based and inquiry-based learning, the teacher promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration while supporting students in reaching their academic potential. The program encourages exploration through hands‑on design challenges and may include experiences with robotics, coding, engineering design, and other emerging STEM tools. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement. Knowledge of effective STEM instructional strategies, classroom management, and student assessment practices. Ability to integrate technology and STEM-based tools to enhance student learning. Ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families. Regular and reliable attendance. Essential Functions This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by an employee in this position. Deliver STEM instruction using project-based and inquiry-based learning approaches. Plan and implement standards-aligned lessons and instructional materials consistent with district curriculum. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to support whole‑group, small‑group, and individualized learning. Integrate technology, engineering concepts, and digital tools to enhance student learning. Implement accommodations and instructional supports in accordance with student IEPs and 504 Plans. Establish and maintain effective classroom management procedures and a positive learning environment. Assess student progress through formal and informal assessments and use data to guide instruction. Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide timely feedback to students and families. Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administrators to support student achievement. Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings as well as professional development opportunities. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds. Physical Demands and Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a classroom and school environment with regular interaction with students and staff. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and school building for extended periods while supervising and instructing students. The employee may occasionally bend, stoop, reach, and lift classroom materials or equipment up to approximately 20 pounds. The position requires the ability to operate instructional technology and visually and verbally monitor student behavior and classroom activities. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
