Medical Radiographer-Ultrasound Per Diem

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Medical Radiographer is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. Duties of a TH Medical Radiographer in the Ultrasound Department may include the following but are not limited to: producing diagnostic exams, positioning and transferring patients, providing immobilization devices, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, selecting and operating equipment. Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards, assisting physicians, responsible for delegating areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures, may be responsible for specific areas of instruction in the school of technology and ancillary personnel. In the absence of the supervisor or senior technologist, may be designated as acting supervisor. Assists in performing first aid, as necessary, practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination. May conduct periodic quality control tests, will participate or conduct research in required specialty. Will be required to teach imaging students or specialty. Will be required to teach imaging students or appropriate hospital personnel established procedures and operation of equipment, in accordance with the guidelines and teaching objectives of the department.

Qualifications Required: Graduate from an Diagnostic Ultrasound Program in General Ultrasound. ARDMS Registered in Abdomen. If not ARDMS Registered in Abdomen at the time of hire, the candidate must be registered within the first 12 months of hire. This certification must be completed in the allotted time to maintain employment. BLS Certification. Preferred: One Year Experience in general Ultrasound. RDMS(OBGYN) registered or registry eligible. Experience in Vascular Ultrasound - Registered or registry eligible.

All hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair. This function/position may be designated as "essential." This means that when the hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook University Hospital and related facilities.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services. Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references. Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen. Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings. Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s). Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
