Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (18:45–07:15) | 36 or 48 hours per week | 13–20 week contracts | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including diabetes, COPD, sepsis, CHF, GI bleed, renal failure, pneumonia, and various surgical recovery cases
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias via telemetry and remote monitoring; utilize Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
• Perform and manage vascular access procedures including peripheral IV insertion and maintenance, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and phlebotomy
• Administer blood products and manage high-acuity medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA pumps
• Provide respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Float to additional campus locations as required and participate in storm, hurricane, or disaster response teams as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or MS/Telemetry RN experience
• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with wound care/wound vac, chest tubes, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start; must be available to work holidays (minimum 2 of 3 major holidays per contract)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification; experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring, post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, post-MI care, and IV insulin protocols
• Experience with tracheostomy care, arterial blood gas interpretation, continuous bladder irrigation, port access/management, and pre/post thoracic surgery care
• Previous charge nurse experience and familiarity with electronic documentation systems
• Community hospital experience and background in bariatric surgery, CVA, or substance withdrawal management
