What You’ll Do

A Program Leader at a School-Based Club possesses robust youth development skills rooted in their relationships with youth, faculty, and families, complemented by their extensive knowledge and experience in the field. They demonstrate the capacity to effectively oversee their department, consistently managing groups of children. As a TK & Kinder Program Leader, you will play a crucial developmental role in shaping the lives of the youth in our community and take a further stepping stone into leadership roles.

• Supervision & Safety — Provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth participants.
• Program Facilitation — Create and lead engaging after-school programs and activities for a group of approximately 10–20 youth.
• Lesson Planning — Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote personal growth, educational achievement, and character development.
• Mentoring — Serve as a positive role model and mentor to young participants, fostering their self-esteem and personal development.
• Clubhouse Cultivation — Create standards and set expectations based on mutual respect between staff and the community we serve.
• Team Collaboration — Collaborate with junior-level colleagues to ensure program goals are met and to share best practices.

What You Bring Required

• Experience working with groups of Preschool–Kindergarten aged youth (ages 3–6) in a youth development setting and ability to create strong relationships & curriculum with youth
• Strong positive disciplinary skills with youth with ability to manage youth behaviors and maintain high expectations
• Proven communication, organizational, and self-starter ability
• Strong ability to create and follow systems and procedures in a high-paced environment with continual distractions

Preferred

• Candidates with education or coursework in Early Childhood Development, Education, or related fields
• Candidates with ECE (Early Childhood Education) units
• Proven leadership or mentorship experience
• Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification (or within 90 days of employment)
• Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply
• Valid driver’s license and be able to operate a 10-passenger vehicle

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively.
• Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for long periods of time.

Compensation

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and BGCSF needs. At BGCSF, our decisions are based on other factors and dependent on circumstances for each position. Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry-level, mid-level or top-of-the-range for their role and compensation. As such, a reasonable estimate of the current range is $24 - $25 per hour.

Pre-Employment Requirements

As part of the hiring process, BGCSF requires candidates to complete LiveScan fingerprinting, a background check, and a tuberculosis (TB) evaluation or test.
