ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE: The Medical Assistant will support various providers, advanced providers, and registered nurses to provide excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will communicate with patients and performs clinical services to ensure high quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. RESPONSIBILITIES Direct Patient Care Communicates and performs clinical care services with patients Takes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake information Performs clinical procedures such as blood draws, vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, and EKGs Discusses patient needs and provides education and resources to patients directly Ensures exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and set up for examinations and procedures Provider And Team Support Coordinates provider workflows to ensure efficient patient care Ensures provider has all pertinent information required for each patient visit including diagnostic images, labs and required screenings Assists other providers and care teams in women’s health, pediatrics and general medicine departments as needed Clinical Administration Utilizes electronic health records to order, process and document clinical treatment plans for patient as directed by the provider Conveys information to patients via telephone or email under the direction of a provider or Registered Nurse Provides patient with requested documents after review to ensure forms are complete, accurate and executed by the provider Completes ongoing/annual training for position compliance EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Valid Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited program

required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is

required upon hire

and must be maintained as a condition of employment. These courses must follow AHA guidelines, but may be completed through approved online providers such as ProMed or other equivalent programs that meet recognized BLS standards. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred Familiarity with medical procedures and terminology Proficiency with electronic health records system experience preferred Intermediate computer and data entry skills Must use sound judgment to anticipate needs of patients and providers Flexibility with changing priorities and time sensitive deadlines Use emotional and cultural intelligence to provide appropriate communication and patient care Exemplify compassion to patients and team members Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Lifting/carrying: Frequently lift/carry up to 15lbs.; ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 25–30lbs Standing/walking: Frequent standing and walking throughout the clinic during the workday Positioning: Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and occasional kneeling/squatting Fine motor skills: Frequent use of hands/fingers for injections, specimen collection, equipment use, computer work, and other clinical tasks Patient assistance: Ability to assist with positioning or mobility of patients, with appropriate assistance or equipment when required Pushing/pulling: Ability to push/pull equipment such as wheelchairs, carts, exam equipment, or supplies COMPLIANCE: Follows all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediately Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices Follows all safety procedures and reports unsafe conditions Uses appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment Familiarity with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits Follows all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols Maintains privacy of all patients, employees and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations Reports all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful Neighborhood Healthcare offers a generous benefit plan that includes: Partially company paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans. Pay Range:

$24.95 - 34.93 per hour, depending on experience Compensation Disclosure:

While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs.
