Workforce Optimization Engineer

Job Description

Our client, a luxury retail organization , is seeking a temporary Workforce Optimization Engineer to support workforce planning and process improvement across a retail network. This ongoing temporary opportunity in NYC and follows a hybrid schedule with 4 days onsite per week, including regular visits to retail locations. This role will use time studies, operational data, and process analysis to improve staffing models, scheduling, and workforce efficiency. This is experience is required for consideration.

Job Duties:

\n

\n
• Conduct onsite time and motion studies to measure workload, productivity, and staffing requirements
\n
• Analyze sales, workload, scheduling, and operational data to develop staffing and labor recommendations
\n
• Document workflows, process steps, and operating procedures across retail locations
\n
• Develop labor standards and workload metrics based on observed activities and operational requirements
\n
• Identify process inefficiencies, capacity constraints, and opportunities to streamline or reallocate work
\n
• Create process maps, reports, and recommendations to support workforce planning and operational improvements
\n
• Partner with retail, operations, analytics, and business teams to validate findings and implement improvements
\n
• Support workforce management initiatives related to labor demand, staffing levels, and scheduling
\n
• Maintain accurate documentation of methodologies, observations, calculations, and process recommendations

Job Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Experience conducting time and motion studies, work measurement, or work sampling required
\n
• Background in industrial engineering, process engineering, operations, workforce management, or a related field
\n
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate operational data into practical staffing recommendations
\n
• Experience developing process maps, labor standards, SOPs, or workflow documentation
\n
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, modeling, and reporting
\n
• Understanding of Lean methodologies, process improvement, or root-cause analysis preferred
\n
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both frontline and corporate stakeholders
\n
• Comfortable conducting onsite observations and working within active retail environments
\n
• Retail, luxury, hospitality, or other customer-facing operations experience preferred
\n
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Analytics, or a related field preferred
\n
• Lean Six Sigma or related process improvement certification is a plus
\n
• Ability to travel to retail locations as needed
\n

Hourly rate: $40-46/hr

\n
