Recreation Director

Recreation Director Skilled Nursing Facility Are you a creative, energetic, and compassionate professional who loves bringing people together? We are seeking an experienced Recreation Director to lead our Activities/Recreation Department and create meaningful, engaging experiences for our residents. The Recreation Director will be responsible for developing and overseeing a dynamic recreation program that promotes socialization, independence, emotional well-being, and quality of life for our residents. Responsibilities Plan, develop, and oversee a comprehensive recreation program tailored to the interests, abilities, and needs of our residents. Develop a diverse calendar of daily and weekly activities, including games, arts and crafts, music, entertainment, exercise, social events, educational programs, and outings. Ensure activities are appropriate for residents with varying cognitive, physical, and functional abilities. Encourage resident participation and identify opportunities to increase engagement. Lead and supervise Recreation/Activities staff and ensure appropriate coverage and programming. Coordinate special events, holiday celebrations, birthday parties, entertainment, and community activities. Develop strong relationships with residents and families and incorporate resident preferences into programming. Collaborate with Nursing, Social Services, Therapy, Dietary, and other departments to support resident-centered care. Maintain accurate activity documentation, calendars, attendance records, and other required records. Participate in care planning and provide input regarding residents' recreational and psychosocial needs. Coordinate with outside entertainers, vendors, volunteers, schools, community organizations, and other partners. Ensure the Recreation Department remains compliant with applicable regulatory and facility requirements. Monitor resident satisfaction and continuously look for ways to improve the activity program. Maintain a welcoming, positive, and engaging environment throughout the facility. Qualifications Previous experience in recreation, activities, therapeutic recreation, or a related field. Prior experience working in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, assisted living facility, or senior living setting strongly preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Creative, energetic, compassionate, and personable. Ability to work effectively with seniors and individuals with cognitive and physical limitations. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with residents. Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a team effectively. Knowledge of person-centered care and senior activities preferred.
