CNC Machinist - Programmer

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced CNC Machinists to machine large, custom components in a job shop environment. This position is ideal for professionals who thrive on machining complex, one-off parts rather than repetitive production work. The successful candidate will have strong setup and machining experience and have experience in Mastercam programming , as this is a critical part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC vertical mills and horizontal/vertical lathes.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
Determine tooling, workholding, and machine setups for large, custom components.
Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam software for 2D, 3-axis milling, and 2-axis turning operations.
Make program edits and machine adjustments to improve efficiency, accuracy, and part quality.
Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and engineering specifications.
Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to maintain productivity.
Follow all safety and quality standards while meeting production deadlines.

Qualifications

Proven experience operating CNC mills and lathes.
Strong setup experience machining large, custom, or low-volume components.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
Required: Strong proficiency with Mastercam CAD/CAM software , including creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs.
Experience with CNC program troubleshooting, toolpath optimization, and setup verification.
Experience machining fabricated, welded, or heavy components is an asset.
Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.

Schedule

Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (approximately 50+ hours/week).
Optional Saturday overtime: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
Overtime paid at 1.5x the regular hourly rate.

Pay

$30-$40 per hour , based on experience.
