Job Title: Construction General Laborer Job Description

The Construction General Laborer supports commercial and storefront construction projects by performing a wide range of carpentry, assembly, and general labor tasks. This role focuses on rough carpentry, tape and spackle work, cabinet assembly, hardware installation, and material handling to ensure high-quality retail build-outs are completed safely and efficiently.

• Perform general construction labor duties on commercial and storefront build-out projects.
• Carry out rough carpentry tasks, including measuring, cutting, and installing materials according to specifications.
• Complete tape and spackle work to prepare walls and surfaces for finishing.
• Assemble and install cabinetry and related fixtures with attention to detail and alignment.
• Measure, install, and assist with fixture installation to meet project layout and design requirements.
• Install hardware and related components accurately and securely.
• Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment from vehicles and on job sites.
• Lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more as needed throughout the workday.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for carpentry, assembly, and general construction tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including debris removal and general site cleaning.
• Follow safety procedures and use required protective equipment in compliance with OSHA and site regulations.
• Travel between multiple job sites as assigned and arrive prepared with required tools and certifications.

• Hands-on experience as a construction laborer in commercial or general construction settings.
• Proficiency in rough carpentry, including measuring, cutting, and installing materials.
• Ability to perform tape and spackle work to prepare surfaces for finishing.
• Experience assembling cabinetry and installing fixtures and hardware.
• Capability to load and unload materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
• Skilled in using hand tools and power tools for carpentry, assembly, and general labor tasks.
• Confident in using a tape measure and reading basic measurements accurately.
• Valid OSHA 30 certification.
• Valid SST 10 certification.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to multiple job sites.

• Background in storefront or commercial construction is highly beneficial.
• Experience working on retail build-out projects.
• Strong attention to detail when measuring, installing, and assembling fixtures and cabinetry.
• Ability to follow instructions, work within project timelines, and coordinate with site supervisors and trades.
• Comfort working with a variety of construction materials, hardware, and fixtures.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to perform cleaning and site maintenance tasks as needed.

This role is based across multiple active construction job sites in Nassau and Queens. You will work primarily on storefront and commercial retail build-out projects in a field environment that involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, and handling materials and tools. The position requires daily use of hand tools and power tools, as well as regular loading and unloading of materials. Reliable access to a vehicle is necessary to travel between job sites. Work is performed in typical construction conditions, which may include noise, dust, and outdoor exposure, with adherence to all safety protocols and use of required protective gear.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Hyde Park, NY.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
