MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II (FULL TIME)

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Senior Facilities Manager STARTING PAY: $22.00/Hour Under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for making a variety of general repairs to existing Zoo & Aquarium infrastructure and systems, as well as other maintenance duties such as painting and building basic structures for staff, guests and animals.

POSITION DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Duties: Responsible for general maintenance on Zoo & Aquarium buildings, animal exhibits and guest areas, including basic repairs, painting and building basic structures. (70%) Assists other maintenance staff with completion of generated work orders related to a variety of mechanical trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, HVAC, etc. (20%) Assists maintenance manager in implementing and executing preventive maintenance programs. (5%) Assists with snow removal during winter months. (5%) This position may at times be requested to perform other duties or special projects as assigned, which are in the best interest of the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent required. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years general maintenance or carpentry experience desired; Knowledge of and experience using various power tools and maintenance equipment. OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must have valid driver’s license; Must be able to lift 75 pounds and have sufficient mobility to ensure a safe work environment; Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, climb, bend and stoop; Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evening hours, in all weather extremes; Must pass a background and drug screening. #J-18808-Ljbffr Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium
