We are seeking an experienced Project Controller to oversee the financial functions necessary for profitable completion of assigned divisions/projects. This role works directly with project teams and is responsible for AP, AR, compliance, financial reporting, budget tracking, variance analysis, and process improvement. The Project Controller reports to the VP of Accounting or designee.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage project AP, AR, financial tracking, and reporting.
• Partner with Project Executives/Managers to track change orders and subcontractor back charges.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies, including revenue recognition and payables.
• Manage project document repositories and maintain accurate operational data.
• Work with the Financial Controller to establish internal controls and financial reporting policies.
• Review monthly financial data for completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare monthly owner draw requests/bills.
• Prepare and update monthly project cash flow forecasts.
• Manage job overhead costs.
• Analyze and forecast project profitability, revenue, budgets, and margins.
• Follow up with clients regarding unpaid invoices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements

• 5+ years of construction accounting experience REQUIRED.
• 5–10 years of leadership experience.
• Experience supervising a team of 7–8 employees.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Experience with financial reporting.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.
• CMiC experience required; Textura and Procore preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Office and Excel skills, including XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
• Strong quantitative and mathematical skills.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

Credentialing

• Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screen.

Work & Physical Requirements

• Fully in-office role in the Financial District, Lower Manhattan.
• Frequent travel to project sites.
• Occasional lifting, bending, pulling, and carrying up to 40 pounds.
