Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor - Commercial Construction

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to support the successful delivery of major commercial construction projects from pre-construction through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional who can provide robust cost management, contractual guidance and strategic advice across complex building programmes. You will work closely with project managers, design teams, contractors, consultants and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and within approved budgets.


Your responsibilities will include preparing initial cost plans, budgets, feasibility studies and detailed estimates; managing procurement strategies, tender documentation and bid evaluations; and monitoring project costs, cash flow, commitments, variations and forecasts throughout the construction lifecycle. You will lead the preparation and review of valuations, payment applications, final accounts and commercial reports, while identifying financial risks and implementing effective mitigation measures. The role will also involve supporting contract administration, negotiating with contractors and suppliers, assessing change control, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting to senior stakeholders.


Applicants should have substantial experience in quantity surveying, cost management or commercial management within the commercial construction sector, ideally across large-scale office, retail, residential, mixed-use or technically complex developments. A relevant degree or professional qualification is preferred, together with strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, cost planning and financial reporting. Professional membership of a recognised surveying or construction body would be advantageous. You will need excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills, strong attention to detail and the confidence to influence decisions at all project levels. The ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and contribute effectively within multidisciplinary teams is essential.
