Principal Accountant/Auditor

Job Summary Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector office and the Human Services Auditing Division is recruiting for Principal Accountant/Auditors who perform the most complex professional accounting duties including preparation and interpretation of financial statements and reports; establish new accounting procedures and controls; perform operational audits of departments, special districts, and programs; analyze and advise management on fiscal matters. The resulting eligible list may be used to fill future vacancies throughout the County as they occur. Benefits Auditing Pay Differential: 2% above base rate of pay. Conditions of Employment Travel: a valid California Class C Driver License is required. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained. Qualifications Education: Must possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or a bachelor’s degree in another field that includes at least 30 semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in accounting. Transcripts with qualifying coursework are required if the degree is in another field. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a recognized credential evaluation service. Experience: Must possess at least 3 years of full-time equivalent professional-level auditing and/or accounting experience. Professional-level experience refers to occupations that require specialized knowledge usually acquired through principal work experience; clerical/bookkeeping experience does not qualify. Designations: California Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, or Certified Information Systems Auditor.
