Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Academic Affairs , led by the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, comprises the university's colleges, schools and libraries, along with other academic support and administrative units. The Department of Kinesiology prepares students for careers in health care, human performance, education, and other related fields through accredited education, interdisciplinary research, and applied learning experiences.

Primary Purpose of Position


The Research Associate leads and coordinates pregnancy-related research studies conducted under the direction of the Principal Investigator. This position manages the day-to-day administration, implementation, and oversight of clinical, epidemiological, social, and laboratory-based research activities across clinical, community-based, and research settings. Exercising considerable independence, the Research Associate collaborates with investigators, healthcare providers, research staff, sponsors, and external partners to ensure research activities are conducted in accordance with approved protocols, regulatory requirements, Good Clinical Practice standards, and institutional policies. The position is responsible for coordinating study operations; participant recruitment, enrollment, and follow-up activities; data and specimen collection processes; regulatory and sponsor-related requirements; budget monitoring and fiscal activities; and research reporting. In addition, the position provides training and guidance to research personnel, students, and investigators while facilitating the successful completion of study objectives, timelines, and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Research Project Management and Operations (70%)
• Data Management, Quality Assurance, and Analysis (20%)
• Research Administration and Leadership (10%)

Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience


Relevant Master's degree; or relevant BS/BA with three years of relevant work experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation


None

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• Experience in clinical, basic, or translational research
• Record of attention to detail
• Phlebotomy training or willingness to learn and perform phlebotomies (blood collections)
• Proficiency with database applications (e.g., REDCap, PowerPoint, Excel) and strong communication skills both orally and in writing
• Proficiency with scheduling applications (e.g., Outlook)
