LWAS partners with local school districts to help students strengthen foundational literacy and mathematics skills, improve school engagement, and develop the social-emotional skills necessary for long-term academic success.LearningWorks Afterschool is funded primarily through 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grants and is delivered in partnership with local school districts.Position OverviewThe Teaching Site Coordinator (TSC) is responsible for coordinating and leading the daily operation of an afterschool program that combines targeted academic instruction, enrichment experiences, and positive development. The TSC serves as both an instructional leader and site manager, supervising program staff, maintaining strong communication with families and school partners, and ensuring students experience a safe and engaging learning environment.Outside of program hours, additional time is dedicated to planning, staff meetings, professional development, family engagement, and administrative oversight.What You'll DoCoordinate the daily operation of a four-day-per-week afterschool program serving elementary studentsCreate a structured learning environment that promotes academic growth, positive behavior, and social-emotional developmentAssist with student recruitment, enrollment, and registration processesCoordinate all aspects of programing including instruction, transportation and nutritionBuild and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and school partnersMonitor and support student attendance to meet program participation goals established through grant requirementsAssist Afterschool Directors with curriculum planning, activity scheduling, and continuous program improvement.What You Will BringA relationship-centered approach to youth development Patience, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm and supportive during challenging situations Strong communication, mentorship, and conflict-resolution skills Ability to motivate and engage youth with varying levels of readiness and participation Comfort working independently while managing multiple projects and responsibilities QualificationsBA or BS in education or related field State of Maine Teaching Certification (preferred)Demonstrated leadership experience in an education setting Minimum three years of teaching experience with elementary students (preferred)Experience with diverse communities and low-performing populations (preferred)Strong technology skills including Google WorkspaceFlexibility, creativity, and strong problem-solving abilitiesAbility to analyze student progress data and use it to inform instructionTransferable skills and qualifications will be considered
