Job Description - Law Enforcement Officer - MFS (R025705) Primary Location DC-Washington Employee Status Regular Overtime Status Non-exempt Job Type Standard Relocation Provided: No Compensation Grade: FR PAY GRADE 21-22 Minimum Salary: $60,800.00 Maximum Salary: $109,700.00 Minimum Education High school diploma or equivalent experience Minimum Experience 1 year Summary A Board Law Enforcement Officer protects and provides a safe and secure environment for Board staff and others on Board property on a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week basis. The officer works security posts, conducts patrols, enforces Board Security policy, and screens visitors using magnetometers, x-ray, and handheld metal detectors. The incumbent works shift work to include nights, days, weekends, and holidays, and must be able to work overtime with or without advance notice. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of and conform to all applicable laws, Board and Unit policy and procedures, and uses sound judgment to implement and enforce security policies and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities Staff posts on a rotating basis performing access control, visitor screening, and foot patrols; screens visitors and their personal property using magnetometers, x-ray machine, and handheld metal detector; carries and uses a firearm; conducts interior and exterior patrols to detect illegal activity and hazards. Operates computerized systems including the CCure system, work scheduler, and visitor registration system; maintains 24-hour surveillance via closed-circuit television; keeps logs and journals; conducts preliminary investigations and prepares clear reports. Responds to incidents and emergency situations; provides emergency services such as administering first aid, CPR, AED, and assists with building evacuations; determines when other police, fire, and rescue personnel should be notified. Monitors the radio system and receives calls for service; dispatches calls to officers via radio. Maintains knowledge of Board and unit policies and procedures, applicable laws, and federal criminal laws within the jurisdiction of the Board; keeps updated on changes. Works rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as required for 24-hour coverage; overtime often required without advanced notice. Coordinates safe movement of the Chairman and high-level dignitaries; may provide physical protection for the Chairman and Federal Reserve Board Governors on- and off-board premises. Interacts professionally with the general public, Board staff, and visitors while performing security duties. Position Requirements Must have good oral and written communication skills; at least 20.5 years of age; required to carry and use a firearm in accordance with unit, board and system requirements; familiar with basic emergency procedures, including administering first aid, CPR, or the AED; able to wear issued uniform and gear while performing work functions; meet medical standards and complete comprehensive physical screening, including psychological and medical examinations; pass periodic physical examinations and screenings; pass drug testing; pass a background investigation and complete all Board mandatory initial training for law enforcement officers; continually satisfy Board training and firearms qualification standards; work shift work to include nights, days, weekends and holidays; work overtime with or without advanced notice; maintain prompt, regular attendance.
