Senior Accountant (Inventory Focus)Location: Morton Grove, ILFind out exactly what skills, experience, and qualifications you will need to succeed in this role before applying below.We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant with strong inventory accounting experience to join our growing organization in Morton Grove, IL. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting month-end close activities, analyzing inventory variances, and partnering with operations to ensure financial accuracy and effective inventory management. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of accounting experience with significant exposure to inventory accounting in a manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, or related environment. Inspired by similar inventory-focused senior accountant roles within the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesLead inventory accounting activities, including valuation, reconciliations, and reporting.Perform monthly inventory reconciliations and investigate inventory discrepancies.Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure compliance with GAAP.Prepare and post journal entries related to inventory, cost of goods sold, accruals, and general ledger activity.Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.Conduct inventory variance and cost analyses, providing recommendations to improve profitability and inventory accuracy.Support and oversee physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.Partner with operations, purchasing, supply chain, and warehouse teams to improve inventory controls and reporting.Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare supporting schedules.Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to inventory and manufacturing costs.Support internal and external audits, including inventory-related testing and documentation.Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls and accounting efficiency.Prepare management reports and provide insights regarding inventory trends and operational performance.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial inventory accounting experience.Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, food production, or other inventory-intensive environment strongly preferred.Strong understanding of inventory valuation, inventory controls, cost accounting, and financial reporting.Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis functions.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.CPA designation or CPA-track preferred but not required.Preferred QualificationsExperience with standard costing and inventory reserve analysis.Exposure to manufacturing cost accounting.Experience supporting inventory audits and implementing process improvements.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. xhyhwjd Compensation & BenefitsSalary Range: $85,000 - $105,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.Annual bonus opportunityMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchGenerous PTO and paid holidaysCareer advancement opportunitiesCollaborative and team-oriented cultureEqual Opportunity Employer/Veterans/DisabledTo read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable:• The California Fair Chance Act• Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance• Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers• San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance
