This role offers hands-on exposure to live event accounting and opportunities to grow into more advanced accounting responsibilities. The Accounting Clerk reports to the HR & Accounting Manager and is responsible for the bank activities, accounts payable, and a portion of event settlements. Additional responsibilities include performing monthly journal entries to facilitate the month-end close process, maintenance of accounting files, preparation/organization of various financial forms, reports, general ledger account analysis, and reconciliations, etc., for the BMO Center, Coronado Theatre, and Davis Park.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.* Reconcile bank statements, outstanding checks, cash receipts, and disbursements* Reconcile accounts payable control accounts to aging reports* Assist with event settlements while working closely with Booking, Box Office, and Event Services* Support the tracking of fixed asset activity in detail and input into the accounting module for automatic depreciation generation* Assist in the monthly close process, including bank reconciliations, analysis, and preparation of accruals* Maintain internal audit controls and participate in external audits* Perform other accounting and general office duties as requested* Process vendor invoices, including coding, matching, and entering into the accounting system* Ensure proper approvals and compliance with internal controls* Prepare and execute weekly check runs and ACH payments* Maintain vendor files, W-9 documentation, and payment records* Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor inquiries* Verify event-related invoices and reconcile against contracts and agreements**Qualifications**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.**Education and/or Experience*** B.S. in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university* Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel* Minimum of two (2) years of prior work experience relative to the position preferred* Experience with Microsoft D365 software preferred* Ability to work additional hours and/or weekends upon request**Skills and Abilities*** Thorough knowledge of financial accounting* Excellent math skills and attention to details* Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required* Ability to interact with all levels of staff, including management and clients* Ability to function independently with minimal supervision* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills**Computer Skills**To perform this job successfully, an individual must have proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; Microsoft D365 experience is preferred.**Physical Demands**The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
