Job Duties
- Conduct thorough evaluations on patients of all ages, utilizing a combination of standardized assessments and observational strategies.
- Create tailored treatment plans focused on immediate needs as well as long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing goals.
- Deliver individualized therapy interventions that cultivate skills in communication, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing.
- Engage in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to design comprehensive care strategies.
- Provide education to patients and their families to enhance progress beyond the therapy setting.
- Support occasional inpatient evaluations and therapy sessions, guaranteeing seamless continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation to meet state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through continuing education opportunities and collaboration with peers.
Education Requirements
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.
- Completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification is pending.
Licensure and Certifications
- Licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in the state of California.
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be completed within 30 days of accepting the position.
