Executive Director, Development Asset Lead

Biogen seeks an Executive Director to lead Development Asset Leads and oversee a diverse portfolio of clinical and marketed therapies. This strategic role involves mentoring teams, guiding critical development milestones, and influencing portfolio decisions across multiple therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Development Asset Leads while overseeing portfolio optimization
• Establish best practices for matrixed team leadership and communicate portfolio value, risk, and costs
• Guide teams through critical milestones including IND-enabling, first-in-human studies, and proof-of-concept generation
• Represent assets in discussions with senior stakeholders and at portfolio governance forums
• Foster accountability and integrate functional plans with asset strategies while balancing scientific opportunity and resource allocation

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MS, MD, PhD, PharmD, MBA) strongly preferred
• At least 13 years of drug development experience in pharma or biotech
• Strong people management and cross-functional leadership skills
• Deep understanding of clinical development planning and strategy execution
• Scientific and clinical expertise with ability to assess competitive implications of data
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for drug development and registration preferred

Compensation: $332,000–$469,250 base
