Location: Kenosha, WI
Duration: 10-Month Contract
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 37.5 Hours per Week
(Elementary schools operate on a half-day schedule on Fridays; contractors will work a full day.)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support elementary students in a self-contained classroom setting. The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction, implement IEPs, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to help students achieve academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success.

This role offers the opportunity to work with a small caseload and receive strong support from paraprofessionals and school staff in a collaborative educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Modify curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials based on student needs.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, and families.
• Implement positive behavior intervention strategies and classroom management techniques.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and reports.
• Participate in IEP meetings and communicate student progress with families and school staff.
• Utilize differentiated instruction, assistive technology, and evidence-based teaching practices.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Ensure compliance with IDEA, state regulations, and district policies.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Wisconsin Special Education Teacher License.
• Certification in Early Childhood-Middle Childhood or Middle Childhood-Early Adolescence .
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in a self-contained special education classroom.
• Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and differentiated instruction techniques.
• Experience supporting students with diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
