Gateway Regional Medical Center is looking for a PRN Intake Coordinator to join our Behavioral Health Services team. You'll be the critical link between individuals in need and the care that can help them - conducting clinical screenings, collaborating with physicians and psychiatrists, and facilitating admissions for inpatient psychiatric care. It's a role that combines clinical assessment skills with genuine compassion at a pivotal moment in someone's care journey.
This is a great fit for an experienced behavioral health clinician or RN who wants meaningful, flexible work connecting patients to the right level of care.
What You'll Do
- Respond to requests for behavioral health services from referral sources, community members, and prospective patients
- Complete initial clinical screenings covering medical, psychosocial, and mental health information
- Collaborate with physicians and psychiatrists to determine appropriate care recommendations
- Facilitate voluntary and involuntary admissions for inpatient psychiatric care
- Obtain initial insurance authorization from providers
- Work both on-site at Gateway Regional and at contracted facilities in the surrounding community
What You Bring
- Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, psychiatric nursing, or a related field - or an Illinois RN license with previous behavioral health experience
- Current BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
- Willingness to complete Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training within 1 month of hire
- Previous acute behavioral health treatment experience
- Working knowledge of community behavioral health resources
- An understanding of and appreciation for the physical, social, and psychological needs of patients across the lifespan - from pediatric to geriatric
