Accounting Supervisor

Work Arrangement: Onsite/Hybrid — based on business needs About the Opportunity Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead day-to-day accounting activities and support accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. This role will provide hands-on accounting leadership while working closely with the Accounting Manager and cross-functional business partners. The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger and close experience, a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls, and the ability to coach and develop an accounting team. Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations & Financial Close Coordinate assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities. Review journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and general ledger activity. Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses for more complex accounts. Monitor the general ledger for unusual activity, errors, and incomplete transactions. Support internal financial statements and management reporting. Assist with intercompany accounting, fixed assets, accruals, prepaid expenses, and other accounting functions. Coordinate accounting activities across multiple entities, departments, and systems. Provide day-to-day direction and workload coordination for accounting team members. Review work for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Coach and develop team members and provide constructive feedback. Train employees on accounting processes, systems, controls, and documentation. Support performance management, employee development, and hiring activities. Promote accountability, collaboration, and a strong service-oriented culture. Internal Controls & Compliance Ensure accounting activities follow established policies and internal controls. Identify control gaps, recurring errors, and process inconsistencies. Support compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies. Maintain appropriate accounting documentation and records. Assist with external audits, tax reporting, and financial reviews. Process Improvement & Systems Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, accuracy, and efficiency. Standardize accounting procedures, reconciliations, templates, and documentation. Utilize technology and automation to reduce manual processes and strengthen controls. Support ERP/system updates, testing, and implementation. Partner with Finance, IT, and other departments to resolve accounting and system issues. Cross‑Functional Partnership Serve as a point of contact for routine accounting questions. Work with business partners to resolve transaction, coding, documentation, and reporting issues. Provide accounting analysis and information to support business decisions. Participate in special projects and other accounting initiatives as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger and financial close experience. Experience reviewing accounting work and/or providing day‑to‑day direction to others. Strong understanding of account reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and accounting principles. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and internal controls. Experience working in a multi‑entity environment preferred. Experience with SAP or another major ERP system preferred. Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to coach and develop accounting professionals. Commitment to process improvement and effective use of technology. Ability to handle confidential financial and employee information with discretion. What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate is a hands‑on accounting leader who can balance technical accounting responsibilities with team leadership. You should be comfortable reviewing the details, identifying issues, holding deadlines accountable, and partnering with other departments to improve accounting processes.
