Support Services Technician (Warehouse)

Position Overview The County of Riverside's Information Technology Department is seeking a Support Services Technician to assist the Inventory Management division in Riverside. Under general supervision, the incumbent will perform skilled and semi‑skilled work in repair and maintenance of supplies, tools, and equipment; maintain records of repairs and minor maintenance projects; load and unload freight; assist in the installation of mobile radio equipment, facsimile machines, and pagers; perform authorized repairs to communication/electronic equipment; and provide related support as required. Schedule: 9/80 7am–4:30pm. A successful security clearance conducted by the Sheriff’s Department is required. The position requires a valid California Driver License and travel throughout Riverside County to deliver, install, collect, and transport county‑issued technology equipment, furniture, and related materials. Key Responsibilities Maintain department inventory records, prepare requisitions, sort and distribute incoming mail, package items for distribution to branch offices, and route supplies, materials, and equipment delivery to various departments throughout the county. Monitor County buildings and equipment; identify needed repairs or maintenance. Perform routine cleaning of vents and air ducts. Execute minor repairs that require limited tradesman knowledge; monitor and analyze building equipment and a variety of electrical and mechanical appliances; prepare and close work orders as necessary. Service and repair doors, gate locks, and latches. Move and secure furniture and equipment. Determine supplies needs and prepare orders. Perform minor painting tasks with brush or roller. Carry out minor electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs, replacing wall receptacles, adjusting brushes on custodial equipment, etc. Hang pictures, bulletin boards, placards, signs, and other fixtures as necessary. Receive, load, and unload supplies, materials, and equipment from vendor trucks; operate forklift to move pallets; inspect for damage and verify quantities against requisitions, invoices, or freight bills. Handle courier routes, inventory supply and carts to par level, deliver and receive mail, financial paperwork, lab samples, and biohazard mails. Store stock per established system; keep storeroom orderly and clean; package items for shipment; fill requisitions and assemble for delivery; report low stock items to supervisors. Assemble equipment such as desks, chairs, bookcases, etc. Provide maintenance and support to the Department pager system. Prepare work and repair orders for telephones. Oversee installations, testing, and routine repairs of radio transmitters, receivers, phones, and pagers authorized by manufacturers. Monitor cell phone bills; recommend service changes as necessary. Maintain logs and database of supply inventory, equipment, vehicle mileage/maintenance, cellular phones/pagers, purchase orders, etc. Ensure vehicles are cleaned, properly maintained, and properly supplied. Perform minor vehicle maintenance and contact vendors when servicing is required. Monitor facility safety and coordinate with the Safety Division to ensure compliance with County and State regulations. Qualifications & Experience 3–4 years of experience in building maintenance and minor repair work. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Knowledge of inventory control practices: tracking, receiving, storing, and maintaining supplies and equipment. Documenting transactions and maintaining accurate inventory and asset records. Assigning, tracking, and recovering technology equipment such as laptops, tablets, mobile devices, and related accessories. Using hand and power tools to assemble, repair, and install office furniture and equipment. Experience with ServiceNow or similar work‑order, asset‑management, or ticketing software. Forklift (sit‑down) certification highly desired. Valid California Driver License. 9/80 schedule flexibility; willingness to travel throughout Riverside County. Strong communication skills in English. Physical & Other Requirements The role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving pallets, boxed inventory items, furniture, technology equipment, assembling and installing office furniture such as desks and monitors, and transporting equipment to various County locations.
