Registered Nurse - Clinical - Surgery

Job Summary The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care during a patient’s hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines using a patient‑driven approach. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessment and reassessment including age‑appropriate admission or transfer assessment. Document findings accurately and completely. Assess post‑op or post‑invasive procedure patients and document care. Identify short and long‑term goals and formulate nursing interventions. Integrate evidence‑based practice and disease‑specific guidelines into care plans. Collaborate with health team members and coordinate daily plan of care. Administer medications and monitor IV fluids and parenteral nutrition per policy. Collaborate on discharge planning, patient and family education. Handle physician orders, clarify and document accurately. Assist physicians or delegate care tasks appropriately. Monitor patient status and respond to changes promptly and appropriately. Incorporate infection control practices into daily care. Document and communicate care changes in the medical record. Maintain continuous evaluation of care effectiveness and modify plans as needed. Provide specialized care for high‑risk patients, including restraint, pain and abuse assessment. Adhere to quality, performance standards, policies and procedures. Participate in learning experiences to enhance professional competence. Support and mentor new staff nurses and students. Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment in accordance with hospital standards. Complete all mandatory annual training requirements, licensure and certification renewals. Qualifications & Minimum Requirements Licensed Registered Nurse in Missouri. Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current RN license in Missouri (or via Compact). Experience in acute care nursing preferred. Strong documentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to work irregular hours, including night shifts and on‑call duties.
