Position Summary

An established and growing commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to oversee ground-up projects from mobilization through completion.


The Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of field operations, including subcontractors, site logistics, scheduling, safety, quality control, inspections, materials, and project closeout. The successful candidate will be a hands-on construction leader who can effectively coordinate multiple trades, anticipate potential issues, and keep projects moving safely and efficiently.


This is a full-time, field-based position supporting commercial construction projects in the greater King of Prussia/Philadelphia area and surrounding markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all daily on-site construction activities from project mobilization through substantial completion and closeout.
  
  
• Serve as the primary field leader and point of contact for subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  
  
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and multiple trades to ensure proper sequencing and workflow.
  
  
• Review and interpret architectural, structural, civil, MEP, and other construction drawings and specifications.
  
  
• Develop, maintain, and drive short-term and overall project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
  
  
• Conduct daily and weekly planning to ensure manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities are properly coordinated.
  
  
• Identify potential scheduling conflicts, field issues, and delays before they impact the project.
  
  
• Coordinate deliveries, site logistics, staging, temporary utilities, equipment, site access, and material storage.
  
  
• Monitor subcontractor manpower and productivity and address performance or scheduling issues as necessary.
  
  
• Lead regular subcontractor coordination and project meetings.
  
  
• Maintain daily reports, manpower records, progress documentation, photographs, and other required project records.
  
  
• Coordinate required inspections with municipal officials, inspectors, architects, engineers, and other project representatives.
  
  
• Enforce project safety requirements and applicable OSHA standards.
  
  
• Conduct or participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, site inspections, and corrective-action activities.
  
  
• Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and safe construction site.
  
  
• Monitor construction activities for compliance with drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and quality standards.
  
  
• Identify defective or non-conforming work and coordinate corrective measures.
  
  
• Coordinate RFIs, submittals, design clarifications, and field questions with the Project Manager and appropriate project team members.
  
  
• Track potential changes and communicate schedule and field impacts to the Project Manager.
  
  
• Work closely with the Project Manager to maintain project schedule and budget objectives.
  
  
• Coordinate testing, inspections, commissioning, startup, and turnover activities as applicable.
  
  
• Manage the punch-list process and ensure completion of outstanding work.
  
  
• Assist with project closeout, owner turnover, warranties, as-built documentation, and final inspections.
  
  
• Build and maintain productive professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members.
  
  
• Provide leadership, direction, accountability, and mentoring to field personnel.
  
  
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  
  

Desired Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction superintendent experience, preferably with a commercial general contractor.
  
  
• Demonstrated experience managing ground-up commercial construction projects.
  
  
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and site logistics.
  
  
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and submittals.
  
  
• Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades simultaneously.
  
  
• Strong understanding of construction scheduling and project milestones.
  
  
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and commercial construction safety practices.
  
  
• Strong quality-control and inspection experience.
  
  
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  
  
• Ability to identify issues proactively and develop practical solutions.
  
  
• Ability to work independently while maintaining close communication with the Project Manager and company leadership.
  
  
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar platforms is a plus.
  
  
• OSHA 30 certification is required
  
  
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  
  
• Ability to travel to project sites throughout the greater Philadelphia/King of Prussia area and surrounding markets.
