Director of Planning and Development City of Johnstown, Johnstown, OH, United States Overview Johnstown, Ohio is seeking a professional Director of Planning and Development to complete a full spectrum of planning activities, research, and analysis. The city is a small community of nearly 6,000 residents, poised for change with the arrival of Intel in 2025. The successful candidate will preserve Johnstown’s rich history and character while balancing new development pressures. Responsibilities Respond to inquiries from the public regarding ordinances and subdivision regulations. Review development plans, site plans, and zoning certificates for compliance with city codes, municipal regulations, plans, and goals; work with customers to resolve conflicts in plans and established policies, standards, and codes. Attend meetings, develop recommendations, correspondence, presentations, and reports on planning and development issues to guide board and commission decision‑making and overall community development. Recommendations will be based on data, trend analysis, design solutions, and best practices. Conduct assigned planning projects involving land use, population, structures, economic activity, housing, transportation, environmental issues, and related subjects. Compile files as requested to complete records requests. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in city or regional planning or a related field. At least five years’ experience in public‑sector planning and zoning, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
