Registered Nurse (RN)We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our dynamic MedSurg/Telemetry unit. This position involves providing high-quality care to a diverse patient population with various medical and surgical conditions.Shift DetailsShift Type: NightsShift Length: 12 hoursGuaranteed Hours: 36 hours per weekUnit OverviewThe MedSurg/Telemetry unit operates with 25 beds and includes a patient mix of neurological patients and those requiring monitoring. Nurses will care for surgical and medical patients, including post-neurosurgery cases, strokes, and other stable neurological deficits.Patient Care ResponsibilitiesNurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:5-6Nurses are required to titrate certain medications, including Heparin, Lidocaine, and Ketamine.Common diagnoses include joint replacements, fractures, COPD exacerbations, prostatectomies, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive.Team StructureCharge Nurse available on each shift.Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs available with a ratio of 1:10-20.Tele/Monitor Techs will interpret telemetry strips; RNs should have basic tele awareness.Scheduling and RequirementsTypical Shifts: 0630-1900 and 1830-0700.Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend, with additional shifts as needed.Holiday Requirements: 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's.Floating: May be required to assist in other medical-surgical areas.Unit Orientation: 2 days of unit-specific orientation provided.QualificationsYears of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a relevant nursing role.Certifications: Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required.Fingernail Policy: Artificial nails are not permitted; refusal to comply may result in termination.Additional NotesSuccessful candidates will demonstrate strong attendance, teamwork, and a compassionate approach toward patient care. The ability to manage admissions and discharges efficiently is essential. This unit serves a culturally diverse patient population.Work EnvironmentMechanical lifts are available in every other room. The unit promotes hourly rounding and responsiveness to patient needs.
