Position Overview / Department Overview:

Our 22-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is committed to delivering outstanding care for patients of all ages. We handle a diverse array of conditions, such as respiratory failure, complex respiratory disease progression, septic shock, heart failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, metabolic crises, post-lung transplant care, and patients with chronic medical complexities. We are a supportive group that encourages our nurse practitioners to engage in bedside care and make essential management decisions autonomously.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Delivering direct care and coordination for critically ill patients in the MICU, which includes assessment, diagnosis, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, bedside procedures, and family-centered care.
• Collaborating with acute care providers and interdisciplinary team members during daily rounds for all assigned inpatients, managing patient care throughout the day.
• Engaging in ongoing research and quality improvement projects.
• Facilitating education for patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
• Working a 40-hour week with rotating day and night shifts, including a maximum of every third weekend.

Essential Qualifications Education:

• A Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies.

Experience:

• At least 2 years of experience in a Pediatric ICU setting.
• Preferred 1-2 years of experience as a Pediatric acute care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA); however, new graduates with prior ICU experience will also be considered.

Licensure / Certifications:

• Massachusetts licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (PNP or FNP) or as a Physician Assistant.

Compensation and Benefits

This position includes a competitive sign-on bonus ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, depending on your experience (for candidates who have not been employed by our organization in the past 2 years).
