Extension Program Coordinator (Marketing) - University of Illinois Extension

University of Illinois Extension Unit 1, Rockford University of Illinois Extension provides educational programs aimed at making life better, healthier, safer, and more profitable. Job Summary The Extension Program Coordinator assists and supports the county director and other staff in providing outreach and community relations. The coordinator aids in program planning and promotion for county and unit programs, and represents U of I Extension in community coalitions and committees to facilitate related efforts and leverage Extension's extensive resources. Duties & Responsibilities Program Coordination and Development Coordinate the planning of educational activities for the program with collaboration from the County Director, educators, and county staff. Identify critical priority needs and issues to be addressed through programs. Conduct evaluation of program activities and recommend continuation or discontinuation. Work with unit staff, Extension volunteers, and Extension clientele to create and maintain administrative records. Disseminate education information provided by Extension professionals. Maintain required records and data. Provide monthly reports to the County Extension Director. Marketing & Networking Use a variety of promotion methods including personal contacts, social media, and printed materials. Network and collaborate with community organizations to assess needs and develop programs. Volunteer Recruitment, Training & Development Recruit, screen, and select volunteers as appropriate. Orient volunteers to the philosophy of the programs, risk management, policies, procedures, and materials. Coordinate volunteer trainings related to program offerings and continuing education opportunities. Maintain contact with volunteers through meetings, email, and phone. Formulate and implement standard operating procedures for all program activities to ensure safety and welfare of volunteers and participants. Organizational Duties Participate in professional development opportunities. Attend staff meetings and provide updates on accomplishments and activities. Additional Physical Demands The position requires work both in the office and in community settings, with travel between locations as needed. The employee must secure personal transportation and maintain a valid driver’s license (preferred). Some evening and weekend work may be required. Exposure to varied environmental conditions, including hot/cold weather, noise, allergens, and uneven ground, may occur. Tasks may involve moving, transferring, and transporting items up to 40 pounds, with frequent loads up to 20 pounds. Twisting, pushing, and pulling movements are also part of the routine. Any combination equaling four (4) years/48 months of responsible volunteer or professional experience in coordinating educational and/or community programs or activities. Volunteer/work experience in coordinating educational and/or community programs or activities. College coursework in any field of study. 60 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months). 90 semester hours equals three (3) years (36 months). 120 semester hours or more equals four (4) years (48 months). Specialty Factors Demonstrated experience and/or coursework in marketing, communications, and/or event planning/coordination. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Skills in communicating and collaborating with all audiences. Ability to work effectively with others individually and in groups. Ability to independently organize and prioritize work. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Strong communication skills. Proficiency with Windows-based computer applications, standard office, presentation, and communications equipment. Appointment Information This is a 100% full‑time Civil Service 0929 - Extension Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12‑month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible.
