QA Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager ensures the quality of products and services, manages QA programs, monitors and completes written reports, performs audits, and conducts product testing. Responsibilities Ensure product quality by testing products and performing audits of product lines, placing defective items on hold and taking corrective action with site leadership support. Ensure completion and effectiveness of defined actions within committed timelines. Manage QA programs and department by upholding expectations and scheduling personnel and shipments. Act as primary SQF practitioner, responsible for food safety and verifying that SQF programs are in place and enforced. Administer the department’s budget to ensure proper allocation of resources. Supervise direct reports and oversee sanitation programs. Lead cross‑functional quality reviews at defined frequencies and report on key performance indicators. Handle customer complaints, communicate holds and discrepancies with supervisors and other departments. Maintain bill of materials, hold logs and produce weekly and monthly reports. Implement Food Safety and Quality Systems. Qualifications Education & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in a science field, preferably food science. Valid driver’s license. Experience Minimum of 3 years of quality assurance experience. Minimum of 5 years of management experience. Preferred experience in a bakery/dry mixing production environment (dry blending, grains testing, and milling). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent communication and coaching skills. Detail oriented and organized. Strong background in sanitation principles and practices. Proficient computer skills in spreadsheets, databases and word processing. Excellent technical knowledge of equipment, products and processes. Self‑motivated, results‑oriented and excellent personal skills. Strong background in HACCP, safety, GMP, AIB and SPC. Hands‑on work ethic. Experience with global quality standards (SQF/BRC) preferred. English‑Bilingual a plus. SQF Practitioner. Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for associates that report to the QA and QC departments. Monitor associate performance, provide input on hiring, disciplinary actions, work objectives and their effectiveness, and realign associates as needed. Working Conditions and Physical Effort The role involves daily exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, darkness, noise, and weather elements. Employees may work around mechanical equipment, forklifts, chemical hazards, and electrical hazards. Tasks include standing, sitting at a desk, walking around the office and plant, carrying packages up to 50 pounds, using fine dexterity, reaching, and kneeling.
