PSA Penn Terminals is one of the best equipped, privately owned multipurpose Marine Terminals on the US East Coast. Our Terminal, Warehousing and Stevedoring Services have helped us successfully handle our clients' cargo since 1986. PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: The Labor Relations & Safety Supervisor is to assist the Head of Labor Relations and Safety with labor relations, gathering, collecting, and maintaining documents/records required for contract and policy development, investigations, and negotiations. This role will also assist in providing safety management, advice, monitoring and reporting and engage team members in programs that ensure safe practices in the workplace.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists routine labor relations inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements; refers complex matters to appropriate management staff.
• Serves as a contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
• Conducts initial interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns; informs appropriate HR staff when additional investigation is required.
• Assists with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion.
• Collects information and data to assess cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes. This may include management and union proposals, pay scales and wages, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances.
• Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, and labor relations.
• Assists with preparation of documents and records required for contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations.
• Assists with workers’ compensation and is a point of contact with the Workers Compensation provider
• Facilitates treatment and care of team members in the event of a work-related injury
• Assists in the implementation all safety initiatives within the terminal
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Combination of work and educational experience in Labor Relations
• A minimum of two years of relevant experience in EHS management
• Experience in international logistics and/or marine terminals a plus, but not a pre-requisite
• Thorough understanding of laws, regulations and guidelines related to Collective Bargaining Agreements and contract negotiations

This work is performed in a moderately noisy environment.
