Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying unique psychological needs and social factors influencing their well-being.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and interpersonal therapy, to deliver individual and family therapy.

• Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists to provide comprehensive care, ensuring treatment plans are coordinated and cover all aspects of the patients' mental health.

• Facilitate crisis interventions for patients during emergencies, providing immediate support and guidance to stabilize their mental health condition.

• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, available treatment options, and local community resources to promote informed decision-making.

• Maintain meticulous and confidential records in compliance with legal standards and ethical guidelines using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

• Actively participate in ongoing professional development by staying abreast of current research in geriatric psychiatry and integrating best practices into treatment.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role focuses on serving the geriatric population, which presents a unique set of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, dementia-related disorders, and adjustment to life changes. As a Mental Health Counselor, you will develop a deep understanding of the biopsychosocial aspects related to older adults, ensuring that each patient receives personalized and empathetic care tailored to their individual experiences and circumstances.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A valid and current license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Psychologist in the state of California.

• A minimum of two years of professional mental health experience post-licensure, preferably with a focus on geriatric populations.

• In-depth knowledge of mental health disorders prevalent in older adults and familiarity with evidence-based practices.

• Exceptional communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care delivery.

Compensation and Benefits\n
