Staff Accountant

Location: Northern New Jersey (on-site/hybrid — adjust as needed) Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $65,000 – $80,000 per year (commensurate with experience) About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team in Northern NJ. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in GAAP, hands‑on experience preparing journal entries, and familiarity with billing/invoicing processes. This role is well‑suited to someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and takes ownership of the monthly close cycle. Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and variance analysis Manage client/customer billing, including generating invoices, tracking accounts receivable, and resolving billing discrepancies Maintain accurate and organized general ledger records Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and balance sheet accounts Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting packages Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies Support external audits and tax preparation by providing documentation and schedules Identify and help implement process improvements within the accounting function Collaborate with other departments to resolve billing or accounting-related inquiries Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 1–4 years of relevant accounting experience (staff accountant or similar role) Strong working knowledge of GAAP Proven experience preparing and posting journal entries Experience with billing/invoicing and accounts receivable processes Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills CPA track or progress toward CPA a plus, but not required What We Offer Competitive salary: $65,000 – $80,000, based on experience Hybrid: 2 days per week in the office Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Opportunities for professional development and growth Collaborative, supportive team environment #J-18808-Ljbffr Cyperus Group LLC
