Approximately 12,000 students are supported annually. Position Summary: Full-time opportunity for a prospect with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience as a Finance Officer (or similar positions) in a nonprofit and/or higher education setting. The ideal candidate is responsible for performing a variety of moderately complex accounting activities, including but not limited to handling accounts receivable/payable, centralized duties related to managing the organization’s health insurance, workers compensation insurance, liability insurance, and other insurance policies and claims. Other duties include budgeting oversight, submitting and processing payments, contract handling, risk mitigation, making recommendations to leadership and providing staff training. The Finance Officer also handles ongoing reconciliations and disbursements regarding student scholarships and awards, including campus program disbursements and passthroughs to the college and the district. They must also coordinate and facilitate effectively with the Executive Director, HR specialist, Board Treasurer, Finance Committee, Database Manager, Program Officer, Director of Development and CPA. The Finance Officer manages all financial records for the organization and oversees all financial policies and procedures in coordination with Executive Director, Director of Development, Marketplace Supervisor, and Board Treasurer. They coordinate annual budgeting processes and oversee ongoing budget compliance with the staff and the board by staffing the board’s Finance, Audit and Budget committees. Finance Officer will prepare and manage annual audits and provide support for the Human Resources Specialist in processing payroll. This position has a direct reporting relationship with the organization’s Executive Director. Responsibilities (Including but Not Limited To): Working in close collaboration with retained CPA Managing accounts payable and receivable Ongoing management of all finance journal entries Full oversight of all insurance policies and claims, including providing training related to insurance liability and risk mitigation Detailed oversight to ensure proper recording and reconciliation of restricted funds Monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledgers, etc. All fund accounting Handling annual scholarships in collaboration with the Programs Officer Processing and handling of programs and campus disbursement funds Annual audit preparation Fiscal file archival Reviewing and preparing annual tax documents in collaboration with CPA Reducing liability exposure Creating and monitoring the annual budget in collaboration with the CPA, Executive Director and staff Payroll backup for Human Resources Specialist Staffing Finance, Audit, and Budget Committees, including arranging the meetings and recording meeting minutes Job Requirements: Strong understanding of the chart of accounts and financial statements Solid demonstrated knowledge of general accounting principles Respect for confidentiality and possess good judgment Detail oriented and highly organized Works well independently and as a team member Prioritizes workload to successfully meet weekly, monthly, and annual deadlines Highly analytical and able to multi-task Ability to independently resolve issues Qualifications: Previous experience as a Finance Officer or similar positions is preferred BA/BS college degree in Accounting or Business preferred, (AA/AS degree is acceptable) Minimum of five years’ of general accounting experience Experience in accounting operations, designing procedures and maintaining internal controls 10-key calculator proficiency Strong working knowledge and experience with QuickBooks Online and Excel Microsoft Office proficiency for PC Experience working in a non-profit environment is a plus Experience with CalPERS Retirement System is a plus Experience with Paychex is a plus Experience with QuickBooks is a plus Compensation: $72,000-$90,000 per year, salaried exempt Excellent Benefits: Paid Medical Coverage Paid Dental Coverage Paid Vision Coverage CalPERS and 401K Retirement 19 Paid Holidays Annually Annual accrual of 10 Days of Sick and Vacation Two annual floating holidays Work Location: In Person with Occasional Remote Days #J-18808-Ljbffr
