Essential Skills

• 4 years of experience in mechanical design or drafting
• Mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
• US Building Codes - ASHRAE, IMC, and IPC.
• Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM

• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, architects, and contractors.
• Strong problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving mechanical conflicts and constructability issues.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and maintain accurate documentation.
• Commitment to staying current with evolving industry standards, equipment, and mechanical design technologies.

Job Description

The Mechanical Designer will work closely with mechanical engineers, architects, and project teams to develop mechanical system layouts, produce detailed drawings, and support projects through all phases of design and construction. This role focuses on designing HVAC, plumbing, and related mechanical systems using CAD and BIM tools while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI.

The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $33.65/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
