Job Description:

The Registered Nurse - ICU will provide critical care to a diverse patient population in a level 3 trauma center with a strong emphasis on medical ICU patients. The role requires proficient critical care skills and familiarity with managing a wide range of patient conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and assess critically ill patients with various medical and surgical needs.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and titrate medications as necessary.
• Perform proning and implement hypothermia protocols.
• Manage chest tubes, drains, and invasive lines efficiently.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are mandatory.
• Proficient in EPIC charting system and BD Alaris IV Pumps.
• Experience with Pyxis medication dispensing preferred.
• Ability to work every other weekend and handle holiday shifts as required.

Unit Description
General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
