Engineering Technician

Engineering Technician 2 Location: San Diego, CA - Onsite Pat Rate: $23.25-$29.00/hr Duration: San Diego, CA Job Description 1-3 years Machine shop experience using traditional equipment such as conventional lathes mills and CNC milling Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Basic mechanical fixture and/or electro-mechanical design Basic understanding and ability to read prints and schematics Commitment to following safety protocols by wearing proper PPE and safely using tools and equipment, while consistently adhering to work instructions. Experience using 3D Printers, Laser cutters and other rapid prototype machines Experience with fabrication and assembly of mechanical, electronic or electro-mechanical parts, devices, fixtures, or equipment Experience with general hand power tools Familiarity with machine shop policies Familiarity with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite Strong mechanical and troubleshooting ability Preferences Ability to lift at least 30 lbs Associates degree A willingness to seek out new assignments and assume additional duties when necessary Experience maintaining tools and managing material inventory Familiarity with optical measurement equipment such as Keyence Industry certification or trade school training in related field Knowledge of 3D CAD software program (preferably SolidWorks and/or Fusion 360) Job Summary Supports prototyping in a team-based manufacturing environment. Performs activities in a variety of cross-functional areas, predominantly supporting the Product Development Engineering Department. Performs functions associated with all prototypes, including working with engineers in setting-up various fixtures, 3D printing, laser cutting, and machining (CNC & Conventional). Uses sophisticated programs such as SolidWorks to design and/or manipulate solid models to be fabricated.
