The Role + Purpose: The Senior Designer of Boys’ & Girls’ Sweaters, Girls’ Swim, Girls’ Accessories & Third-Party leads seasonal design and development across a broad, multi-category portfolio for Crewcuts. The Sr. Designer translates kids’ fashion trends, market insights, and the crewcuts brand vision into commercially compelling collections- spanning sweaters, swim, accessories, and third-party product- that carry from initial concept through finished product. Reporting to the Head of Design for crewcuts, this Sr. Designer partners closely with cross-functional and external teams to ensure a cohesive point of view across every category they own. Lead seasonal design and development for Boys’ and Girls’ Sweaters and Girls’ Swim, building concepts, silhouettes, and line plans while overseeing initial design though final production. Own Girls’ Accessories design end to end, from concept through production approval, ensuring designs are on-trend, on-brand, and commercially viable for the Crewcuts customer. Manage Third-Party collaborations and development process, partnering with Men’s and Women’s Design team to ensure product alignment, brand consistency, and on-time delivery across all third-party programs. Translate market trends, consumer insights, and competitive research into commercially viable design direction that reflects crewcuts’ distinctive point of view and resonates with J.Crew Boys’ and Girls ‘customer. Collaborate with the collective Crewcuts design team and merchandising & sourcing partners to ensure the creative vision is executed consistently from concept to finished product across all owned categories. Partner with the materials team to research & leverage new yarns, knit constructions, swim fabrications and trims, and accessory hardware and materials that push innovation while maintaining quality, safety, and production feasibility. Stay ahead of fashion trends through market research, while working closely with the Men’s and Women’s Design team for brand and style alignment. Qualifications: Required: 8 + years of progressive experience in apparel /knitwear design, with a focus on sweaters, swim, or accessories; Women’s apparel design strongly preferred; experience translating women’s and men’s trends and brand direction into children’s product is a plus. 2+ years of experience leading, managing, or mentoring designers. Demonstrate strong ownership, effective decision making and problem-solving while independently managing multiple categories and seasonal deadlines. Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) for creating original artwork, tech packs, concept boards, and print-ready files. Also preferred PLM and MIRO. Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate product design and assortment to leadership and cross-functional partners. Preferred: Experience designing within a Women’s apparel brand or a multi-category kids’ business. Experience managing third-party or licensed vendor design relationships, including quality and brand-standard oversight. Familiarity with trend forecasting platforms such as WGSN or Fashion Snoops. Knowledge of knit construction, swimwear fabrication and testing standards, and accessories hardware/trim development, including relevant children’s product safety and compliance considerations. Salary Range: $97,600.00 - $126,300.00 At J.Crew Group (JCG) we aim to pay competitively for our company’s size and industry. The base salary offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region of work premises, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
