Job Title: Day Shift Welder/Fitter Job Description

This role focuses on structural welding and fitting of very large steel poles used for street lighting and traffic control. You will work on heavy industrial materials in a manufacturing environment, using metalcore and flux core processes to produce high-quality welds on large structures.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding and fitting on large steel poles used for street lighting and traffic control applications.
• Work with heavy manufacturing materials and large structures, ensuring accuracy, safety, and quality in all welds and fits.
• Use metalcore and flux core welding processes to complete production tasks according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints to determine dimensions, layouts, and welding requirements for each project.
• Prepare materials and set up workpieces for welding, including beveling, positioning, and securing components.
• Complete and pass required weld tests, including 1/2 inch flat plate 1G with 1/16th metalcore wire and bevel bar.
• Complete and pass required fitting tests to demonstrate proper layout, fit-up, and assembly of structural components.
• Maintain a safe work area by following all safety procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and maintain above-average tenure and reliability.
• Inspect completed welds and assemblies for quality, structural integrity, and adherence to project specifications.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of heavy industrial welding and fitting experience working with large structures and heavy manufacturing materials.
• Proficiency in structural welding and fitting for large-scale projects.
• Hands-on experience with metalcore welding processes.
• Hands-on experience with flux core welding processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately for structural fabrication.
• Ability to pass a weld test on 1/2 inch flat plate in the 1G position using 1/16th metalcore wire with bevel bar.
• Ability to pass a fitting test demonstrating accurate layout, measurement, and assembly of structural components.
• Strong understanding of welding safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Reliability and consistent work history in heavy industrial environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in structural welder/fitter roles within heavy manufacturing settings.
• Comfort working with very large materials and components in an industrial facility.
• Attention to detail when inspecting welds and fits for quality and compliance.
• Ability to work day shift hours from early morning through mid-afternoon.
• Capability to work overtime when available to support production demands.

Work Environment

This position is based in a heavy manufacturing facility focused on producing very large structural poles for street lighting and traffic control. The role is on the day shift, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will work around large industrial equipment and heavy materials, following strict safety protocols. A hard hat is required on site and is provided, while you must supply your own weld hood and steel-toe boots. The environment is industrial, active, and production-oriented, with overtime available as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $24.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
