Clinical Support Liaison

Insight Hospital and Medical Center Chicago, Illinois Clinical Support Liaison – Pharmacy Department (IM2 Program) POSITION TITLE: Clinical Support Liaison for the IM2 program.

POSITION SUMMARY

Clinical Support Liaisons, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assist in the various activities of the IM2 program. Candidates should obtain a pharmacy technician license within 1 month of hire. Once licensed, the technician works within the pharmacy under written procedures with deviations approved by the supervising pharmacist.

MARKETING OF IM2 PROGRAM TO PROVIDERS AND CLINICS

Go to provider offices to spread awareness about the IM2 program. Present information about the program to providers. Share the importance of patient enrollment in the program. Explain the Clinical Drug Therapy Management (CDTM) agreement and the collaborative practice model. Answer provider questions and share patient testimonials.

COLLABORATION WITH THE MARKETING TEAM

Develop brochures, posters, website enhancements, flyers, interviews, and videos covering the full scope of the IM2 program. Assist in creating marketing materials and coordinating promotional activities.

TELEHEALTH PROGRAM ENROLMENT

Call patients to enroll in the telehealth program. Help manage logistics of the telehealth program with the pharmacy department. Update pharmacy performance trackers daily.

ADDITIONAL PROJECTS

Complete projects assigned by leadership as the program expands. Train in pharmacy operations when licensed as a Pharmacy Technician.

AGE POPULATION SERVED

The pharmacy service population ranges from birth to elder adults.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the pharmacist in preparing patient, physician, and nursing education. Assist the pharmacist in retrieving accurate, concise, and timely drug information. Obtain clinical pharmacokinetic data to help design effective, safe, and economical therapeutic medication regimens, including calculating creatinine clearance where appropriate. Assist with publishing and distributing newsletters and notices. Effectively support management. Complete work activities through effective time, task, and resource management. Maintain professional conduct, performance, and attitude, including ethics, attendance, punctuality, and customer focus. Participate in implementing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department and facility. Perform other duties as assigned or scheduled.

CONTACTS

Frequent contact with healthcare professionals, nurses, pharmacists, staff, patients, and visitors under a variety of circumstances.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Prolonged stationary work or movement throughout the facility. May lift/push or transport medication carts or IV fluid carts. Lifting boxes up to 25 pounds occasionally. Minimal stretching for boxes and supplies. May read for long periods. Use telephone or other communication devices to interact with healthcare personnel. Use computers, modems, Telxon, calculators, adding machines, and pharmaceutical scales. Maintain alertness in an environment where accuracy and promptness are critical. Travel throughout the hospital and work at computer terminals. Provide evidence of good health according to hospital policy.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

High School or GED graduation required. Pharmacy Technician license mandatory within 1 month of hire. Pharmacy Technician program certification required in line with state law. Effective oral and written communication skills. Aptitude for working with other healthcare professionals.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposure to risk of bloodborne disease, patients, and chemotherapy on occasion. Exposure to very sick patients, mentally ill patients, and death. Subject to varying and unpredictable circumstances, including emergencies or disasters. Occasional irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls, tasks, and inquiries.
