Assistant Professor (CHS)

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) has built a world-class reputation for cutting-edge research, compassionate patient care, and hands-on training programs for resident physicians and clinical fellows. We are seeking candidates for a comprehensive ophthalmology position that will involve patient care, teaching, and support/develop clinical research. The position is estimated at 80% for comprehensive ophthalmology and 20% for academic time. Clinical activities will include patient care at UW Health clinic locations. Teaching activities will involve medical students, residents, and fellows. Research activities may include participation in clinical trials and/or translational research.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

The starting salary for the position is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Board-certified or board eligible for Wisconsin Medical License by start of position. Completion of a U.S. Ophthalmology accredited residency by start date of the position. Relevant experience in clinical practice. Interest in medical student and resident education.

Candidates for Associate Professor (CHS) or full Professor (CHS) rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track. M.D. or equivalent required.
